Peggy Levinson - Creating Authentic Relationships

Alcohol Abuse Test

Millions of Americans either abuse alcohol personally or know a close friend or family member who does. Recognizing a drinking problem in yourself or a loved one is the first step toward treating this difficult disease.

yes no 1. Do you feel that you consume a normal amount of alcohol?
yes no 2. Do your friends and family believe that you consume a normal amount of alcohol?
yes no 3. Do you drink to remove social anxiety and to emerge from your protective "shell"?
yes no 4. Does drinking increase your self-confidence?
yes no 5. Are you able to stop after only one or two drinks?
yes no 6. Do you begin drinking in the morning, before lunch?
yes no 7. Has excessive alcohol consumption ever caused you to forget the events of the night before?
yes no 8. Do you, or others that you love, express concern over how much alcohol you drink?
yes no 9. Do you frequently drink alone, in a non-social setting?
yes no 10. Do you feel that you have a problem recognizing when you've "had enough"?
yes no 11. Do you occasionally become violent after having consumed alcohol?
yes no 12. Has drinking ever negatively affected your relationship with your friends, significant other, or spouse?
yes no 13. Have members of your family ever sought outside help to cope with your drinking habits?
yes no 14. Has drinking ever interfered with your job performance or schoolwork?
yes no 15. Has heavy drinking ever led to your hospitalization?
yes no 16. After drinking heavily, have you ever experienced symptoms of delirium tremens (severe shaking, hearing voices in your head, or hallucinations)?
yes no 17. Have you ever sought out a doctor, priest, social worker, etc., to help you deal with the emotional issues accompanying a drinking problem?
yes no 18. Have you ever sought out professional help in an attempt to stop drinking?
yes no 19. Has drinking ever been a reason for your family or your doctor to admit you into a psychiatric hospital?
yes no 20. Have you ever run into problems with the law (indecent behavior, DUI, etc.) due to your consumption of alcohol?
For an assessment, and to talk about the results of your test, please schedule an interview by calling Peggy Levinson at (314) 644-3339.
